Kerry Klimm is a Guguu Yalanji and Koko Lamalama woman from Far North Queensland. Kerry grew up in Gimuy (Cairns), the lands of the Gimuy-waluburra yidi people and now lives in Meeanjin, the northside homelands of the Turrbal people.
Her exhibition, Spill the tea on the colony, speaks about the importance tea has played in her family and for so many blackfullas around the country.
Adding words and phrases to second-hand teapots and tea-sets, Kerry shares her life in the colony. The brutality and trauma from racism and discrimination. The resistance and rage that keeps her fighting. The black love and joy from family and friends that fills her cup.
