SUMMARY:Kids workshop: Creative critters | Caboolture Art Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Create your own out-of-this-world critter! \nBack in the 1800s\, the Acclimatisation Societies brought new plants and animals to Australia\, sometimes with unexpected results. Inspired by Moreton Bay histories\, kids will become creature inventors\, imagining their own creature that might have been introduced to our region. \nThrough the processes of drawing and sculpture\, young makers will design and construct their own hybrid creatures; making their creation comes to life\, inventing a scientific name\, a backstory\, and a quirky personality for their new species. \nCost $5.00 – bookings essential. Ages 6-12. \nCaboolture Regional Art Gallery is open from Tuesday to Saturday\, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

SUMMARY:Spill the tea on the colony | Caboolture Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Kerry Klimm is a Guguu Yalanji and Koko Lamalama woman from Far North Queensland. Kerry grew up in Gimuy (Cairns)\, the lands of the Gimuy-waluburra yidi people and now lives in Meeanjin\, the northside homelands of the Turrbal people. \nHer exhibition\, Spill the tea on the colony\, speaks about the importance tea has played in her family and for so many blackfullas around the country. \nAdding words and phrases to second-hand teapots and tea-sets\, Kerry shares her life in the colony. The brutality and trauma from racism and discrimination. The resistance and rage that keeps her fighting. The black love and joy from family and friends that fills her cup.
