Gather the troops and get set for a day of fun in the sun.

The inaugural Wamuran Lions Family Carnival is set to bring together families and community members for an event filled with fun, entertainment and community spirit.

Lions Club Wamuran Inc president Howard Walters said it was an exciting time for the club and for Wamuran to be able to bring this carnival to life for the community.

“There is a history of some kind of children’s carnival in Wamuran that was hosted by the Wamuran Sports Association and the local sports clubs and schools that made up that association,” Mr Walters said.

“It has had different names, but in essence, it’s about a family fun day where the local community comes together and celebrates Wamuran.

“This year, the Lions Club of Wamuran has received grant money from Moreton City Council and this, along with generous donations from local businesses, means the Lions Family Carnival will be offering free carnival rides, face painting, animal petting areas, bubble artists and much more.”

With a goal to create a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone, while fostering a sense of community and togetherness, you can expect a line-up of fun-filled activities, rides, games and entertainment on the day.

Event highlights include:

  • Free rides, including a rock climbing wall, giant slides, teacup ride and mini train rides.
  • Face painting and petting zoo.
  • Delicious food stalls.
  • The Plumbdogs will be performing throughout the day.
  • Local schools (Wamuran, Delaneys Creek and Mt Mee) will be performing on the day and each school will have a sideshow alley stall.
  • Local community group displays (so bring loose change for donations/raffles).
  • Blacksmith demonstrations.
  • Arts and crafts and much more!

With the countdown to the carnival underway, Mr Walters encouraged visitors to grab the picnic rug, bring along the whole family and “make a day of it”.

“We as a club are very grateful for the community we are established in and for all the support this event has received so far,” Mr Walters said. “We are looking forward to an amazing day. It is hoped that this will become an annual event for our community.”

Entry to the carnival is free. For further information about the event visit Lions Club of Wamuran Inc. facebook page.
