Are you ready for a rocking good night out?

Step back to a time when fashion was full of glamour, dancing was all about the swing moves and hairstyles were all vintage and retro at The Ultimate Rockabilly Twilight Event this month.

Hosted by the Southside Collective Market, strap yourself in for an afternoon of fun, flair, fabulousness and frivolity at the Morayfield Sport and Events Centre.

“We’re all kids at heart and we’re just putting it out to the community to have the opportunity to be yourself or be whoever you want to be,” organiser Anita Savage said. “There is a small child still within us – doesn’t matter how old you are – that wants to just dress up and have fun. That’s what events like these are all about.”

Indoor Fun for the Whole Community

The Ultimate Rockabilly Twilight Event

The Ultimate Rockabilly Twilight will include:

  • Pin-up girl competition and parade
  • Community rocker fashion parade competition
  • Swing dancers’ demonstration
  • Kids’ activities, including face painting
  • Plus, plenty of vintage treasures and rockabilly memorabilia at the market stalls.

This is not the first event the Southside Collective Market has held in Morayfield, with other fantastic gatherings including pyjama-themed nights, Halloween markets and more, but Anita said they wanted to do something a little bit different to “liven things up”.

“There’s a lot of history and culture in the area and we thought why not put a rockabilly event together,” she said. “I have a couple of vendors that specialise in the rockabilly area and my niece is a pin-up girl, so she’s organising the contest and parade and it’s come together from there.”

She added that one of the things that sets the Southside Collective Market apart from other market events is that they host their events indoors, which works perfectly in all-weather scenarios.

“Our motto is ‘we’ve got you covered’,” she said. “But not only that, this is an event that’s accessible to everyone on all level s and all abilities. The tables and chairs are supplied, you don’t need a marquee and we’re all there to help if you need a hand. We are just really community-focused and family-focused.”

Entry is $2 per adult. For further information, visit Southside Collective Market events page.
