Looking for a fun family day out that won’t break the budget?
Free entry, free rides, free activities and free entertainment, along with market stalls and food and drink, make the Wamuran Lions Family Carnival at the Wamuran Sports Complex on Saturday, 25 July, an event everyone can enjoy.
Wamuran Lions Vice-President Cheryl Hegemann said being able to host an event like the carnival and keep it as affordable as possible was very rewarding.
“It is a tremendous feat for our volunteers, but seeing it all come together, and the joy on the faces of young and old alike on the day, is worth the time and effort,” Cheryl said.
“It is also an opportunity for both locals and those coming from afar to see what services and wares are available within this wonderful little community.”
Free Rides, Entertainment and Community Fun for All Ages
Free rides include a train ride, a giant slide, flying chairs and a teacup ride, while free activities include face painting, games for children, a petting zoo and animal experiences. Attendees will be able to enjoy live entertainment with a band playing all day, as well as performances by local school children singing and dancing, line dancing with the Wamuran Women’s Shed, and demonstrations by Wamuran Tae Kwon Do, Infinity Acro, and a traditional blacksmith.
Wamuran Women’s Shed Inc President Sally Close said that while Wamuran Sheddies have line dancers performing for display, people will also be encouraged to join in.
“Our ladies will be dressed in a combination of boots, jeans and Sheddies tops designed and printed by one of our members,” Sally said.
“The demonstration will be to a variety of music, both new, old and country, and we hope everyone will join in on the day. We’d also like to encourage more ladies to join Sheddies and come to line dancing held every Monday.
“Line dancing has health benefits for all ages and many social benefits in the community.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring cash and gold coins for parking, to purchase tickets to enter the mega raffle (with over 15 prizes totalling more than $5000) and to buy from the array of food, craft and produce direct from local makers and growers.
The carnival is an alcohol, smoke and pet-free event.
