Going Out in Caboolture
Ghoulies & Ghosties
Caboolture’s annual Ghoulies and Ghosties has been confirmed for the evening of Halloween itself, with festivities kicking off at 5 pm and coming to a close at 9. The first hour is designed with the little ones in mind as it’s scare-free between five and six. Then things are set to get spooky.
Price: $10 Adults, $5 children aged 6-16 and 5 and under go free.

Halloween Twilight Markets
Not to be left out, the twilight markets at the Caboolture Showgrounds celebrate Halloween just as eagerly as they do Christmas. Not only are visitors encouraged to come in their Halloween costumes, but the little ones can trick-or-treat around the various stalls. There is, of course, a best costume competition, market and food stalls, as well as plenty of activities for the entire family.

Kids Halloween Spooktacular at the Sundowner Hotel
From 5 pm-8 pm, the Sundowner Hotel is turning into a Spooktacular for your children! Get ready for the Best Dressed Halloween costume competition, complete with prizes for the winners, and enjoy a full evening of sweet treats, music, dancing, games, and kids eat free! Make sure to book your table to avoid missing out.

Halloween After Dark at the Sundowner Hotel
Once the Spooktacular draws to a close, the adults get their chance to take the stage with the Sundowner’s Halloween After Dark. The DJ starts the party and keeps it going with the biggest dance floor favourites. Avoid missing out by booking your table soon.

Halloween at the Library
This local event is free, and you don’t need to book in advance. Everyone is welcome, but it is designed for smaller children who may miss out on many other Halloween festivities. It runs from 10:30-11:00 in the morning, but if you want a longer version, Burpengary Library is holding one from 9:00-2:00. Dress the kids up and join in for ghostly rhymes and spooky story time.

Grave Secrets
Interested in cemetery symbols and what they mean? Then this Caboolture Library event is for you. It takes place between 10:30 am and 11:30 am on the 28th of October, and is for adults only. Join Helen Smith, expert genealogist, as she shares the symbols and meanings behind Victorian headstones.

Celebrate Halloween At Home in Caboolture
If you’re looking for spooky adventures for the kids to prepare them for the big day and entertain them during the holidays, then there are still plenty of ways to get them involved.
Decorate
Christmas decorations are automatic, but do you hang cobwebs on your trees and porch? Decorating for Halloween is fun; it keeps the kids busy, and it enhances the trick-or-treating experience as well. It might just be the perfect way to keep your kids entertained during the school holidays.
You can transform the outside of your home just as easily as you can the inside. Use colourful LED lights to mark the pathway to your front door and use foam headstones to create a creepy graveyard. Inside, you can use everything from atmospheric lighting and wall hangings to decorative items on the shelves to set the scene.
Trick-or-Treating
What could be better than old-fashioned trick-or-treating? Get dressed up in your favourite costume and wrangle the kids (and their friends) for a wholesome evening of fun. If you don’t live in a trick-or-treating hotspot, enlist your friends and their children to create a custom route so everyone can enjoy the holiday safely.
Crafting
If you’re looking for fun Halloween-themed activities to keep your little ones busy, crafting is a good shout. Pineapple carving is fun, but making bats and ghosts from old toilet and kitchen roll cardboard is safer. Let them loose with paint, tissue paper, and googly eyes and see what they come up with.
We don’t have the benefit of falling leaves around Halloween, but that doesn’t mean we can’t collect bits and pieces from nature to create Halloween-themed art. You can even use something as simple as shaving cream for finger painting ghosts.
Movie Night
If you prefer a quiet Halloween or you’re looking for school holiday activities, a Halloween movie marathon is always a big winner with the whole family. You can make a night of it with make-your-own pizzas, pick up some sweet treats, and turn your lounge into a spooktacular home cinema. Let every member of the family choose a Halloween flick and reserve the scary ones for after the little ones have gone to bed.
Halloween-Themed Treats
You can make Halloween cookies or get creative with kid-safe fake blood to help with décor like handprints on the windows, but the best part is you could simply drink it as well. Combine water, icing sugar, cocoa powder, and red food colouring and whisk briskly. Why not transform a standard meal into something a little spooky? Use mozzarella to turn spaghetti and meatballs into eyeballs and worms, or pipe mashed potato into spooky shapes and use peas for eyes.
