Could you use some confidential, non-judgemental assistance with parenting, self-esteem, dealing with conflict, or anger management? You are not alone.

This month, the Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre is launching several courses designed to help people build confidence, improve relationships and develop practical life skills. These counsellor-led courses have recently been redeveloped to improve outcomes and include Emerging from the Storm – Anger Management, Parenting Skills, and Building on Women’s Strengths (B.O.W.S.).

Managing Director of Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre Malcolm Thomson said providing courses had a positive effect on the community, as well as the individual participants.

“Participating in courses empowers participants to develop skills and knowledge to achieve their personal goals and connect with like-minded people, which can lead to a more cohesive community,” Malcolm said.

Practical Courses Build Confidence, Relationships and Resilience

Emerging From The Storm is a seven-week anger management program and costs $80. While anger is a normal human emotion, its impacts can be a problem. This course helps participants identify the sources and triggers of anger and learn strategies for expressing themselves safely and constructively.

Parenting Skills is a free course for parents and carers of children who want to build stronger emotional connections, better understand behaviour and feel more confident in their parenting role.

B.O.W.S. is a free course that aims to build strength and resilience in families by supporting women to improve self-esteem, deal with personal and family issues and learn skills to manage conflict and stress.

Mel, a Counselling Team Leader at Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre, said B.O.W.S. was not just a group, but a community of women supporting one another.

“For women who have ever experienced trauma, loss, or life’s changes, B.O.W.S. offers a safe space to connect, heal, learn and grow,” Mel said.

“Through support, shared experiences, practical tools and plenty of laughter along the way, we discover that we are not alone – and never have to be.”

The courses aim to provide practical strategies, emotional assistance and opportunities to connect with others in a supportive environment.
