Gemstone enthusiasts, collectors, families and anyone curious about the lapidary arts can explore a world of treasures when Caboolture Gem Club’s annual Gemfest returns.
The event returns to the Caboolture Showgrounds on Saturday, 1 August.
Show coordinator Donna Parker said that after relocating to the showgrounds two years ago, Gemfest had continued to evolve with an improved event layout, a growing number of exhibitors and an expanded range of displays and activities.
“The larger venue provides room for future growth while allowing visitors to enjoy more traders, educational displays, and family-friendly attractions,” she said.
“We’re excited to keep building on last year’s momentum and deliver an even bigger and better Gemfest experience for the community.
“Visitors can explore a wide variety of gemstones, fossils, minerals, handcrafted jewellery, tools and equipment while meeting talented artisans and traders.”
The event will also feature interactive children’s activities, including gem sieving, as well as members’ displays of competition items and other attractions.
“One of the best things about Gemfest is the variety,” Donna said. “Visitors can expect to see everything from dazzling gemstones and handcrafted jewellery to fascinating fossils and museum-quality mineral specimens.
“Our traders also supply raw minerals and gemstones for enthusiasts to shape and fashion themselves.”
Gemfest Showcases Local Talent and Lapidary Arts
The volunteer-run Caboolture Gem Club has been part of the local community since 1971, bringing together people with a shared interest in lapidary, faceting and jewellery-making.
Donna said Gemfest was not only a celebration of those interests but also the club’s major annual fundraiser.
“The funds raised help support the club facilities, maintain equipment, and provide educational opportunities for members,” she said.
“Gemfest plays a vital role in supporting local jewellers, lapidary artists, and traders by providing a platform to showcase their craftsmanship, connect directly with the customers, and network with others in the industry.
“These events help promote the lapidary arts (which include cabbing, faceting, silversmithing and casting), encourage lifelong learning, support small businesses, and inspire the next generation of gem and mineral enthusiasts.”
