Where can you turn to for help when life gets hard?

Whatever is happening in your life, there is bound to be an organisation with expertise in assisting you – but we don’t always know where to find them.

That’s why Zonta Club of Caboolture is funding a Wellbeing Expo this month, specifically to help women and girls connect with the local providers who can support them.

Chair of Advocacy for Zonta Club of Caboolture, Lynda Galway said the idea for the expo came about when she was coaching a client who was experiencing domestic violence.

“When I asked who she was getting support from I was surprised to discover she didn’t know where to go and how to access local services,” Lynda said.

“This was the inspiration for the Wellbeing Expo. Our aim is to connect women and girls in a relaxed and safe environment with all types of organisations: community, not-for-profit and profit-based, that support their wellbeing.

“Information and education help raise self-awareness and empower women and girls to make changes in their life for the better.”

Visitors can chat with providers and attend workshops on topics around various aspects of wellbeing. Attending providers include CADA, Share the Dignity, Queensland Police, headspace Caboolture, Courageous Girls, Dragon’s Abreast Pumicestone, Kyabra, Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre, BPW Moreton Bay and many more.

President of BPW Moreton Bay, Vicki Woods said the event was a wonderful opportunity for women and girls in the community.

“This kind of advocacy aligns well with the aims of BPW,” Vicki said. “We look forward to meeting women we can help empower.”

Lynda also said they chose 23 November because it is the weekend before the United Nations 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence.

“From 25 November to 10 December, Zonta Clubs all over the world advocate to stop violence against women,” she said

“Our club will be at Morayfield Shopping Centre to share information, Caboolture Square will be lit with orange lights to remember victims of domestic violence and we will wear our orange shirts to raise awareness.”

The expo is free and includes morning tea and a gift bag. Bookings are required. Get more information and your tickets here.
