Locals have been eagerly watching the development of The Comiskey Group’s newest venture in Dakabin, which sits prominently on the corner of Alma and Old Gympie Road.
With its striking triangular design, the $35 million Dakabin Hotel is set to become a local landmark when it opens in March/April 2025.
Director David Comiskey said the hotel was planned with the local community in mind and aimed to create a welcoming environment.
“The expansive triangular windows will not only flood the interior with natural light but also showcase the vibrancy and enjoyment inside,” Mr Comiskey said.
“We believe the hotel will naturally become a landmark and we hope it’s something locals will be proud of.”
Mr Comiskey also revealed the first look at the hotel’s interior design concept, which was created in collaboration with KP Architects and design studio CTRL Space.
“We wanted the interior to foster a relaxed atmosphere, using natural colours, comfortable furnishings and many indoor-outdoor spaces,” he said. “The restaurant will offer indoor and outdoor dining, with a large kids’ room, a sports bar and even a statement fireplace surrounded by sunken lounges for a cosy place to gather.”
The hotel’s menu will focus on modern Australian cuisine with a mix of pub favourites and Asian influences, adding to its appeal as a destination for all occasions.
Known for its attention to landscaping, the Comiskey Group’s previous projects, like The Doonan on the Sunshine Coast, have become destinations for those who appreciate thoughtful design.
“Landscaping can turn a nice space into an incredible one and the Dakabin Hotel will have plenty of greenery to enhance its indoor and outdoor areas,” Mr Comiskey said.
Dakabin Hotel Opportunities for Locals
Group Operations Manager Brad Harding, who heads up the recruitment efforts, said the company is focused on hiring locally.
“We’re looking for hospitality staff with experience, but we also have junior roles for those looking to gain experience in the industry,” Mr Harding said.
“We’re searching for professional, friendly team members who can work together. This is a great time to join the business, especially with the rapid growth of the Comiskey Group.”
The Dakabin Village shopping precinct, part of the same development, is also nearing completion, with businesses set to open. Tenants already secured include Subway, Café 63, Bottlemart and more.
Those interested in applying for a hospitality role at the Dakabin Hotel can submit their resume to brad@comiskey.com.au
