School holidays can be stressful, especially this year as the cost of living has risen so much, but here is a chance to treat the whole family to some wonderful experiences for free.

Not only is there a free sausage sizzle, soft drinks and lots of fun activities and entertainment at the Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre’s Wellbeing Expo this month, but you can also meet the community groups who help those needing support.

Managing Director of Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre, Malcolm Thomson said that there were many people finding life a bit tough and they often didn’t know what help was available to them.

“The day-to-day stresses of family and community life brings challenges that some families and individuals are unable to cope with, without some level of community support and/or assistance,” Malcolm said.

“The purpose of the Wellbeing Expo is to raise awareness and to provide information to community members of the programs, supports and activities that are available to help them pursue wellbeing for their family and for themselves.”

The young and young at heart can enjoy lots of free activities and entertainment, including face painting, a petting zoo, a reptile show, kids craft and a puppet show.

Feel your spirit lift with live music by Drevesen or raise your own voice at karaoke – there’s no judgement here, just encouragement and lots of smiles.

Try your luck and support the great work done by the Neighbourhood Centre with lots of raffles for prizes donated by various businesses in the community.

While there is a lot of fun to be had, there is also the very important aspect of learning about types of assistance available for various circumstances including financial hardship, relationship help, domestic violence, caring for the elderly or those with special needs, learning work and life skills, and more. Many organisations that provide a myriad of services will have stalls at the expo and friendly staff for you to talk to.

Come and meet the people who care about you and your family while enjoying a lovely day out that doesn’t cost you a thing.
