Exciting changes are on the horizon for Centenary Lakes! The Caboolture park is set to undergo a major transformation, making it more accessible and enjoyable for everyone in the community.
At the centre of the development is the creation of an all-abilities playground. This inclusive space will offer a range of adventure and nature play experiences along with a zero-depth splash park, perfect for gatherings and playtime. Improvements to pedestrian and cycle paths will enhance access and improve safety.
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said he was enthusiastic about the Centenary Lakes upgrades, supported by SEQ City Deal funding. He emphasised the importance of all levels of government working together to create more liveable cities.
“Upgrades to the Centenary Lakes precinct are a huge win for City of Moreton Bay,” Mayor Flannery said.
“We are working hard to deliver important social infrastructure projects, just like this one, that make our city even more liveable.
“We’re focused on creating spaces that are welcoming and accessible to all, which is why the all-abilities playground with a zero-depth splash pad, upgraded pathways and accessibility improvements at Centenary Lakes are particularly exciting.
“The improvements will ensure Centenary Lakes continues to be a valuable hub for sports, recreation and community for generations to come.
“These city-shaping infrastructure and lifestyle projects will support the growing community of Caboolture, create local jobs and contribute to a more liveable city.
“This wouldn’t be possible without the tireless work of all three levels of government. Together, we are building a brighter, more connected future for the residents of Caboolture.”
SEQ City Deal Supports a Bright Future
The SEQ City Deal, a partnership between the Australian Government, the Queensland Government, and the Council of Mayors (South East Queensland), aims to deliver transformative projects that strengthen liveability, connectivity, and economic growth.
“Our vision for Centenary Lakes is clear; a vibrant, active parkland that is welcoming, accessible, and reflects the needs of our growing community,” Mayor Flannery said. “This revamp will create new ways for everyone to enjoy this beautiful space.”
The design phase of the playground is expected to be completed by mid-2025, with construction concluding in late 2026.
