The Dag Pub – Bigger, Better and Friendlier Than Ever

It’s not easy to expand and renovate a rural pub without losing its country heart, but the team at the Dag Pub has achieved exactly that.

From the outside, the pub, located on the D’Aguilar Highway. doesn’t seem much different. But step inside and the large spaces are surprising. Discover multiple dining areas, function rooms, bars, kids’ area, and a grassed beer garden, all with disability access, and all with the casual and welcoming atmosphere that makes everyone feel at home.

Manager Darren Smith said work had been progressive over the last two years, and there was more to come.

“In that time, we have added a complete new kitchen, new veranda area, new state-of-the-art keg room to guarantee a chilled pour, and a huge LED screen out the back for watching sporting events,” Darren said.

“We now have capacity for 800 people to enjoy the monthly famous live music acts with Ross Wilson, Thirsty Merc and Shannon Noll coming up soon. The stage even has full in-house production, so bands don’t have to lug their own gear in.

“We can seat 300 for dinner, but are so busy on weekends we advise people to book for meals.

“We are right into helping the community with fundraisers for local state schools, and we support the Woodford Rodeo and Show, etc, with sponsorship. Our recent Tattoo and Bike Show raised over $27,000 for a local Rural Fire Brigade – we love to give back.”

Local Flavours and Community Spirit

While the Dag Pub now boasts a Michelin-starred head chef, the menu is designed to bring the community together and showcase what the area is about.

Head chef, Luke Peat, said Kilcoy beef and other local produce are featured, and timber from the Glasshouse area fires up and flavours the smoker.

“Smoked meat, beer and music bring friends and families together to have a wonderful time,” Luke said.

“I’ve worked in boutique restaurants in London and Slovenia, but here I’ve found a great team and love collaborating with management to make this place a hot destination.”
