Fighting Back Against Scams

From tradies to retirees, locals across Moreton Bay and North Brisbane share the same frustration – the endless buzz of ‘No Caller ID’ calls that interrupt dinner, work, or a quiet cuppa. For many, it’s not just an annoyance; it’s a growing concern about scams, privacy, and peace of mind.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has confirmed what most of us already know – scam calls are on the rise, with thousands of reports made every month. In a world where we rely heavily on our phones for business, community connection, and family life, the impact is being felt daily.

It is not surprising that the recent Australian launch of iCaughtYou, an app designed to reveal hidden or blocked numbers, has sparked strong interest across Moreton Bay and North Brisbane. Residents who’ve long been targets of scam calls say it’s about time something practical was available.

Restoring Confidence Through Technology and Awareness

Yamen Bendit, CEO of iCaughtYou said that Australians, including many in Brisbane and Moreton Bay, were fed up with scam and blocked calls.

“Our app gives them an easy way to see who’s really calling and feel confident answering again,” Mr Bendit said.

However, this isn’t just about an app – it’s about restoring confidence in something as ordinary as answering the phone. Our region is built on small business, community connection, and everyday conversation, making the ability to pick up a call without fear matter. Whether it’s a parent expecting a call from the school, a tradie relying on client enquiries, or a retiree catching up with family, knowing who’s on the other end helps us feel safer, calmer, and more connected.

What’s more, the app’s official Australian launch late 2025 has opened a wider conversation around phone safety and digital awareness – something local neighbourhood and seniors’ groups have long encouraged. As scams become more sophisticated, awareness and confidence are becoming just as important as technology itself.

As our region keeps growing, restoring trust in a simple ring and helping locals reclaim control of their conversations matters more than ever. When we protect those connections, we protect the heartbeat of our community. So, if you’re curious how locals are taking back that confidence using ICaughtYou, a quick Google search will lead you there.
