The summer school holidays are in full swing across the City of Moreton Bay, with dozens of free activities continuing to keep local kids and teens entertained well into January.
From libraries and museums to pools and outdoor spaces, the city’s facilities are offering everything from books, bots and baking to bugs, beat making and creative play.
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said that with dozens of free activities on offer during these school holidays, there was no shortage of boredom busters to keep the kids entertained.
“Activities like these play an important role in keeping our young people engaged and active in our community,” he said.
Libraries, Museums, Pools and Outdoor Fun
City of Moreton Bay Libraries continue to be a hub of activity, with Storytime sessions helping two to five-year-olds build a love of reading, alongside popular workshops including airfryer cookie baking classes, LEGO building, 3D printing and comedy puppet shows.
Families can also enjoy magical entertainment, with Super Steph’s fairy and pirate-themed magic show delighting children aged eight and under.
Across the region, Imaginariums at Bribie Island Seaside Museum, Pine Rivers Heritage Museum and Redcliffe Museum are offering hands-on creative exploration for all ages. Bribie Island Seaside Museum is also hosting Ocean Life Education workshops, giving youngsters the chance to meet real sea creatures and Ole the ocean-cleaning turtle.
With warmer weather continuing, the city’s 14 pools are experiencing a busy summer season, supported by extended opening hours and learn-to-swim programs.
Outdoor activities are also on offer through the Healthy and Active Moreton Program, including Little N Active Playtime, soccer, tai chi and yoga.
Mayor Flannery said he encouraged local families to make the most of the holiday program. “You won’t be disappointed,” he said.
