Construction is set to begin on a new clubhouse for the Caboolture Rugby League Club after City of Moreton Bay awarded the tender for the $14.5 million project.
The redevelopment will replace the Caboolture Snakes’ ageing facilities and is expected to significantly improve the infrastructure for the 2000 local players using the grounds and spectators.
Mayor Peter Flannery said the works would transform the community sports facility.
“Our residents absolutely love rugby league and the new clubhouse facilities will make rugby league in Caboolture more enjoyable and accessible for everyone, helping grow participation in this popular local sport,” he said.
Facilities, Accessibility and Project Timeline
The works will take place over two stages, and are set to deliver new amenities, including club offices, change rooms, public toilets, kitchen and canteen facilities, and tiered outdoor seating for spectators.
The upgraded clubhouse will also feature accessible facilities, ensuring that people with disabilities can participate more easily, with accessible amenities, seating, and a new scoring booth.
“The project includes upgrading of infrastructure, including water and sewer infrastructure, which will benefit co-located clubs and enable future expansion of the precinct to further facilitate a whole-community approach to local sport,” Mayor Flannery said.
“The upgrade will benefit not only the Caboolture Rugby League Club but also other local sporting groups such as the Table Tennis Club and local boxing club that will use the new amenities and other facilities.”
The project will receive $3 million in funding from the Federal Government’s Investing in Our Communities program. Stage 1 of the redevelopment is scheduled for completion by early 2027, with Stage 2 expected to be finished by mid-2028, weather permitting.
