Following a nine-year hiatus, the Urban Country Music Festival is returning to Caboolture in October with a revamped concept that promises to create a genuine feeling of community and offer an incredible reunion.
Tickets are currently on sale for a must-attend event for lovers of country music, fans of festivals and those who wish to support a worthy cause (the organisers are raising money to support the cause of homelessness).
Australian singer-songwriter Beccy Cole said she was thrilled to be back at this new iteration of the event after “some great times onstage and with a wonderful and energetic Queensland crowd in the former days of the festival.”
This year, Ms Cole is looking forward to sharing songs from her upcoming album plus a setlist with highlights from the last three decades and more.
“There’s always a very cool moment when I perform my song ‘Poster Girl’ where the crowd is so generous with their respect for the song and our returned service women and men,” Ms Cole said.
A Star-Studded Lineup and Community Spirit
Ben Vellacott, one part of country and rock trio The 78 Sound (with brothers Clayton and Morgan), said he was enjoying the anticipation in the lead-up to the event in the latter half of the year.
“We’re in such great company on that lineup – we couldn’t be more excited for October to come around,” Mr Vellacott said.
For a musician hailing from a small town in Queensland’s Darling Downs, Mr Vellacott said he appreciated the support of a tight-knit local community, with “events like these injecting such a great sense of community spirit into the area.”
Mr Vellacott said he was thrilled just to know he would be sharing the stage with some of Australia’s best-in-class in country music.
“We were a big Beccy Cole household growing up – Mum might have us lining up for an autograph,” he said.
For Ms Cole and Mr Vellacott, the Urban Country Music Festival serves as both a homecoming and a debut stage, as interwoven as the chords of any true blue country tune.
