Gear up for an epic battle this April school holidays as the City of Moreton Bay invites kids and their families to take part in Monster Siege.

This high-energy, imaginative game will unfold at the Morayfield Sport and Events Centre, with two sessions daily on 8 and 9 April.

Tim Folly, the artistic director at Folly Games, creators of Monster Siege, said the game brought the excitement of a tower defence game to life, offering a family-friendly experience where adults play characters called ‘slobbers’.

“The slobbers are led by the horrible King Slobber from Planet Gloopiter,” Tim said. “They have come to earth to steal our ducks and we only have the defenders to save us. Why do they want ducks? You’ll need to come and see the action to find out.”

Before the battle begins, players will have the opportunity to learn their moves.

“For the slobbers, it’s very simple, they mostly just walk towards a duck and then back again,” Tim said. “Slobbers aren’t very bright. For the defenders, they have more tactics to consider and a variety of ways they can pop the slobbers. It’s a bit like learning a simple board game, we go over the rules and do a bit of practice, then we start the game for real.”

A Family-Friendly Battle Like No Other

The competition is expected to be fierce, with kids pitted against adults in the fun-filled contest.

“Last year, the battle for the final duck was epic,” Tim said. “It was taken by some slobbers in the final round, but the defenders managed to pop them before they got back to King Slobber and save the day in the last seconds of the match.

“King Slobber and the Game Master are always entertaining, singing and making jokes, but it’s the intensity of the defenders and the spectacular popping of the slobbers that makes the game so memorable.”

He said the chance for families to play together on an epic scale like Monster Siege made for lasting memories.

“A board game is fun, but this is on a basketball court,” he said. “For the audience, it’s all the fun of a sports match with comedy, performance and a lot of silliness thrown in.”

In addition to the battle, attendees can enjoy free activities such as creating superhero masks, cosplay armour, pom-poms and badges, as well as face painting, hunting for museum artefacts, and more.
