‘Sorry mate, I didn’t see you.’
That phrase represents one of the most common causes of motorbike accidents – and it’s something that can be improved with awareness.
Whether your ride has two wheels or four, you are invited to join Ride 4 Our Fallen Riders on 17 August as they convoy from Caboolture BP to Beechmont Hotel to both honour the fallen and also save lives.
Event co-organiser Ned Scooby said the ride began in 2017, founded by Nikki-anne Mooney in memory of two riders – one being her brother, Timothy – who tragically lost their lives just a week apart on the same corner.
Raising Awareness for Motorcycle Safety
“Since then, it’s become a meaningful annual tradition we proudly align with Queensland Road Safety Week,” Ned said.
“We ride for two key reasons – to honour the fallen and stand with their families and friends. And to raise awareness about road safety – especially the visibility of motorcycles on our roads.
“We believe, ‘Sorry mate, I didn’t see you,’ is still far too common, and many of the crashes we see are avoidable.
“That’s why we say: ‘Ride Safe. Drive Safe. Arrive Safe’. Because road safety really does start with all of us.”
