It’s time to wander down the rabbit hole and go on a journey with Tullawong State High School’s production of Alice in Wonderland.
With a cast of 37 student performers from Year 7 to 12 and more working behind the scenes, the production is a high-energy reimagining of the classic tale with a modern jukebox twist – the soundtrack combines the classic hits of Alice in Wonderland and contemporary pop music that fits the storyline.
The story follows the curious and courageous Alice as she tumbles down the rabbit hole and begins a journey through a whimsical world of curious creatures and characters. Taking on the lead role of Alice, Avah said she was excited to step into her character’s shoes and see where the production takes her.
“I auditioned for the musical because I wanted to gain more stage experience and challenge myself with singing,” she said. “So far, the most exciting part has been running full scenes and seeing how everything comes together. It’s so rewarding!”
Year 12 student Catherine, who stars as a lead dancer, auditioned for the production because she wanted to experience the thrill and excitement of one last musical before she graduates.
“What makes this experience so special is being able to share it with my friends – those memories have been the most fun and meaningful part of the journey,” she said.
The quirky and unpredictable Mad Hatter is being portrayed by Reece, who has a love of acting and being on stage.
“I really wanted to be part of something creative with a group of people who are just as passionate,” Reece said. “Besides The Mad Hatter, my favourite characters are Tweedledum and Tweedledee, they’re hilarious and bounce off each other naturally. They really bring a lot of comedy to the show.”
