From music, murder and mayhem to bunnies, bubbles and The Bard, this year’s Moreton Bay Anywhere Festival is full of surprises!

From 8 May to 24 May, a selection of acts will be presented as local community halls and everyday spaces are transformed into stages for theatre, cabaret, music, and more.

Highlights include Punk Rock Potter, where the classic tales of Beatrix Potter are reimagined in a punk rock mash-up. This interactive children’s show brings characters like Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck and Tom Kitten to life through a high-energy blend of chaotic storytelling, physical comedy and loud, punk-inspired music.

A performer in the show, Mali Just, said that what she loves most about Punk Rock Potter was the immediate audience response.

“Kids don’t hold back – they laugh, shout, join in – and that energy fuels the entire performance,” Mali said. “It becomes a shared experience, rather than something you just sit and watch.”

Standout Shows and Must-See Performances at Anywhere Festival

Another performer, Cetima Leedy Villarin, added that Anywhere Festival audiences could expect big characters, playful chaos, and a lot of heart.

“At its core, it’s about celebrating curiosity, individuality, and a little bit of rule-breaking – in the best possible way,” Cetima said.

Presented by Role Initiative Theatre Company (RITC), Punk Rock Putter hits the stage at the Strathpine Community Centre on 9 May, the Narangba Community Hall on 16 May, and the North Lakes Community Centre on 17 May.

Other local performances include:

Oedipus // End of Line

A modern take on the tragedy written by Sophocles, presented by RITC. Peter Muir, Artistic Director of RITC, said that Oedipus // End of Line stripped the story back to its raw emotional core, while presenting it in a bold, contemporary way.

“What makes this production exciting is how immediate it feels; even though it’s an ancient text, the themes hit very close to home,” Peter said.

Murder at the Bowlo

Solve this fully immersive murder mystery set in 1987 and you may just win a meat tray! Presented by Improv Queensland, the performance will take place at Club Pine Rivers on 8 May, and Narangba Bowls Club on 15 May.

The Amazing Bubble Show

Magic Glen will return to this year’s Anywhere Festival with mesmerising bubbles and magic tricks to delight all ages at the Strathpine Community Centre on 9 May, the Narangba Community Hall on 16 May, and the North Lakes Community Centre on 17 May.

Pick & (re)Mix

Shakespearean hijinks including music, dance and swordplay. Presented by Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble, the show is on 9 May at the North Lakes Community Centre.

Shakespeare – Dying on Stage

This show asks the question, ‘What happens when you attempt to stage every death in Shakespeare in under an hour?’ Presented by Bardot Rules, the show will be held at Buddy Brewing in Burpengary on 9 May and 23 May, and at Friends of Lagoon Creek in Caboolture on 22 May.
