The Morayfield Sport and Events Centre (MSEC) Morning Markets are back this month, bringing more than 100 local business stalls together under one roof.
Since launching in April, the markets feature stalls from local makers, growers and small businesses.
Ruby Popplewell, who runs Itty Bitty Handmade, selling handmade toys and crafts, said the markets provided a great opportunity to sell her products locally.
“It’s a nice vibe,” Ruby said. “It’s so great to be able to come here and sell my crafts locally. I live in Petrie, but I’m happy to travel here and have been to all of them so far.”
Michele Crawford of Entwined Boutique, which sells handcrafted earrings, said the markets have grown since April.
“The market has expanded each time,” she said. “My mum has a stall as well, so it’s good we can do it together. October should be busy with people looking for gifts ahead of Christmas.”
Some stallholders travel from further afield, like Joanne Thompson from Bright Natural Bee’s Wax, who makes the trip from the Gold Coast to Morayfield for the markets.
“We sell a range of natural products made out of beeswax,” Joanne said. “We travel all around, but we have been to all of the markets here with a stall so far this year, and will keep coming back.”
Diverse Market Offerings and Community Impact
Matt Baker, Venue Operations Officer at Morayfield Sport and Events Centre, said the pop-up markets attract more than 1,500 attendees.
“Visitors can browse a diverse range of products from local makers, collectors and small businesses, including new and pre-loved clothing, trading cards, comic books, candles, essential oils, 3D-printed products, gemstones, jewellery, vintage coins, treats, arts and crafts, and more,” he said.
“The markets also provide a platform for local authors, while Caboolture Rotary will be on site operating a community barbecue.
“The market reflects the venue’s commitment to being an accessible community hub, creating opportunities for local businesses, community groups and residents to connect in an inclusive and welcoming environment.”
The venue’s café will be open throughout the event, serving coffee and a full menu. Entry is free for the public.
