Grab the reins and trot on down to the Hobby Horse Holiday Classic for a fabulous day out with a difference for the whole family!

Hobby Horse sport is gaining popularity worldwide as it is so much fun for all ages. Come and see riders from all over Australia compete in a mix of equestrian events, including high jump, show jumping, dressage, western and gymkhana at the Morayfield Sport and Events Centre this month.

You can also be part of the action in trying for a World Record for the most Hobby Horses in one place and you can even compete in an obstacle course on the day.

Fun, Fitness, and Fantasy… and Friendship!

Event co-organiser, Coralie Kedzlie said there were 3 F’s of Hobby Horsing – Fun, Fitness, and Fantasy – but there should be a fourth F – Friendship!

“Hobby Horse riders are finding friendships and enjoy a strong sense of belonging as they share their passion for horses and fun in a very unique way,” Coralie said.

She added that there were other benefits to Hobby Horse riding as well, including time with family and the support of a strong community.

“A mother who often rides with her daughter at Hobby Horse events commented that Hobby Horse riding has become an activity that they can share and have some rare mother/daughter time,” she said.

“During lunch at a Hobby Horse event, we discussed the issue of bullying as there are often those who ridicule anything that is a little different.  One rider had simply deleted a social media account and continued to enjoy her sport, demonstrating a maturity and smart decision-making beyond her years.”

Bring the family and see for yourself why this unique sport that combines fitness, fashion, fantasy, creativity and comradeship is taking the world by storm! Tickets are $15 for families, and $5 for adults (15 years and above), with children under 6 free. If you bring along a Hobby Horse to help with the World Record challenge, you may attend for free.

Please note that while your hobby horse can be homemade it must depict an equine head and not just be a stick or broom!
