Jordan Bruce, a local artist and founder of Arts Collective Brightsiders, is passionate about public artworks and has been creating murals for over 10 years.

With a strong background in aerosol paints, Jordan was invited to lead a series of spray paint workshops designed especially for aspiring artists aged 14 to 18.

The Street Art Lab workshops, taking place this month at the Burpengary Community Hall, provide a safe, supportive space for participants to explore their creativity.

Over three consecutive weeks, they will design and paint a mural together.

“The workshop series looks to provide skills in artwork application, technique, and concept design,” Jordan said.

“We would like participants to walk away inspired, connected with other artists, and gaining real world knowledge in creating large-scale artworks.”

Inspiring the Next Generation of Artists

City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said Council was proud to provide the community with opportunities to experience world-class art and learn alongside renowned artists and creatives.

“Initiatives like Street Art Lab are helping shape our City’s unique visual identity and inspire the next generation of artists,” he said.

Councillor Mark Booth said Street Art Lab was a fantastic pilot program, giving aspiring young artists the chance to learn aerosol techniques under the guidance of an expert mentor.

“It’s a unique opportunity for our community’s youth to engage with street culture and leave their creative mark on Burpengary,” Cr Booth said.
