A love of baseball has brought Vince Bianchina to Australian shores, with the American keen to help the Narangba Demons make their mark this season.

The 25-year-old is spending five months in Australia alongside friend and fellow baseballer Keoni Coloma, after the pair secured opportunities to play with the club.

The pair arrived in Australia recently and are already enjoying their first visit to the country.

“Everyone’s super nice,” Vince said. “Everyone’s very welcoming.”

Away from the diamond, the pair are looking forward to exploring the Queensland coastline, visiting the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, and meeting as many people as possible.

Collegiate Background, Championship Ambitions, and Local Club Growth

Vince, a switch-hitting infielder from Lafayette, California has been playing baseball for as long as he can remember, with his father also a former college baseballer and going on to play in Italy, helping inspire his sporting journey.

“I had a bat in my hand pretty much as soon as I could walk,” Vince said. “I was destined to be part of the sport with a strong family background on the field.”

Vince has played in more than 180 collegiate games at Northwestern University (Big Ten Conference) and Grand Canyon University (Mountain West Conference). He has also played more than 140 summer ball games in the NECBL, Northwoods League, and California Collegiate League.

While reaching Major League Baseball would be a dream, Vince said his immediate focus was helping his new team succeed.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the Narangba Demons this season,” he said. “I’ve heard nothing but great things about the club and I’m looking forward to experiencing baseball in Australia and becoming part of the community.

“I’m super excited to win some games here and help the Demons win a championship!”

The Narangba Demons are a very family-oriented club that welcomes international players and now has more than 420 players, including more than 100 female players from juniors through to seniors.

Home games (Harris Avenue, Narangba) are played on a Friday from 7pm. For all game details and other updates, follow Narangba Demons Baseball Club on Facebook or visit Narangba Demons Baseball Club website.
