The Caboolture Community Choir, known as the Caboolture Song Birds, is actively seeking a new permanent Musical Director as it prepares to launch its 2026 program this month.

The call comes as temporary Musical Director June Willoughby prepares to step back into the ranks of the choir after guiding the group through a challenging period.

“I love this choir, but I joined to sing, not direct, and I am keen to return to being part of the alto singing section,” June said.

Choir President Catherine Croft said the committee was grateful for June’s commitment and is now eager to find someone to take on the role long term.

“We are seeking a Musical Director with a love of music and a strong community spirit to lead rehearsals on Wednesday evenings from February to November and to conduct at regular performances,” Catherine said.

Remuneration is offered and is negotiable depending on skills and commitment, with all expenses reimbursed.

Looking Ahead to an Uplifting 2026 Season

As the search continues, the choir is looking ahead to an uplifting 2026 season built around its tagline, “We are happy because we sing.” Plans include a program of joyful and familiar songs, along with the introduction of a new choir theme song, “Why We Sing.” The choir is also considering staging a special free concert to promote the mental health benefits of singing and community connection.

Established in 1995, the Caboolture Community Choir is a non-profit, un-auditioned adult SATB choir with no religious or political affiliations. Members regularly share their love of music at civic events, community venues, aged care homes, and local shopping centres, easily recognised by their distinctive purple shirts.

The choir continues to welcome new members and is particularly excited to greet newcomers to the area who have expressed interest in joining. Anyone over 18 who can carry a tune is encouraged to attend a rehearsal at St Laurence’s Church Hall, King Street, Caboolture, on Wednesday evenings from 6.45pm to 9pm.

Those interested in the Musical Director role can inquire via email at caboolturecommunitychoir@gmail.com or message 0415 194 094.

Further information about the choir is available online at and through its ‘Caboolture Community Choir’ Facebook page.
