Caboolture Community Choir is searching for a new Musical Director to lead the group as a busy Christmas performance calendar approaches.
Choir member Lorraine (Rainey) Cobcroft said the group was enjoying an exciting period of growth, with more people discovering the joy of singing together,
“It has been wonderful to see the choir grow and welcome new voices,” she said. “Singing brings people together, and we would love to find someone who shares our passion for music and community.”
The choir’s recent ten-week Wellbeing Project concluded with a sold-out free concert and afternoon tea that attracted local audiences. The project also helped attract new members, including tenor and bass singers, allowing the choir to return to a full four-part ensemble after a period without male voices.
With Christmas fast approaching, the choir is already fully booked for the festive season. Performances are scheduled at local aged care facilities, Caboolture Square Shopping Centre, Caboolture Historical Village, Woodford Street Carnival and Lantern Parade, and the annual Caboolture Christmas Carols organised by City of Moreton Bay.
A New Musical Director to Lead the Choir into 2027
Following Chris Brindley’s leadership during the Wellbeing Project, Jen Ashby has stepped in to guide the choir through its busy Christmas program. However, with Jen unlikely to continue into 2027, the choir is seeking a new Musical Director to lead rehearsals and performances in the new year.
The choir is seeking a musician with a love of singing and a strong community spirit. The successful applicant will need to be available for Wednesday evening rehearsals and weekday and weekend daytime performances. Rehearsals are held at St Laurence’s Church Hall from 6.45pm to 9pm, February to November.
Choir secretary Rebecca Jolley said the high demand for performances meant a new Musical Director was needed to ensure the choir could continue its contribution to the Moreton Bay community.
“Returning to perform for the Moreton Bay community each year is always a highlight for us, and we are incredibly grateful to feel like such an integral part of the local community,” Rebecca said.
Employment conditions and remuneration are negotiable. Interested applicants are welcome to attend a rehearsal to meet members and learn more about the role.
