Don’t miss your chance to watch Olympic-standard horses and riders competing in one of the biggest events on the showjumping calendar.
With the Brisbane Olympic Games only six years away, the Festival of Showjumping, organised by Queensland Showjumping Club and taking place at QSEC (Queensland State Equestrian Centre) in Caboolture this month, promises a world-class standard of competition.
Executive Member of Queensland Showjumping Club, Carly Overton, said the Festival of Showjumping holds a pivotal place on the Australian showjumping calendar, bringing together the nation’s top riders, emerging talent and grassroots riders from throughout Australia.
Elite Riders and Event Highlights
“Riders of note competing at the festival include 2024 Olympic Silver Medallist (Eventing), Christopher Burton from NSW; current Australian World Cup League winner Phillip Lever from Victoria; and Australia’s current highest money earning horse and rider Emma Collins and Oaks Abracadabra from NSW,” Carly said.
“As well as esteemed riders, many potential Olympic horses will be competing. Showjumping horses reach their peak around the age of 10-16, so several riders are currently developing promising young horses with the long‑term goal of progressing to elite international level.
“The Festival of Showjumping is now a crucial benchmark event — one that influences rankings, shapes Olympic and World Cup pathways and provides riders with a platform to participate in their sport at a world class level.”
Entry is free on all eight days. Carly added that while the competition is great to watch any day, the feature day of the festival is Saturday, 27 June, when the most exciting jumping classes are showcased.
“Our major class, the Caboolture FEI World Cup, begins at 1pm, followed by an exciting team speed event, all set to a cracking playlist by our resident DJ,” she said.
Other general entertainment that day includes merchandise giveaways, a display by Outback Spectacular dog trainer Heidi Mackay and her filmstar dogs, the drawing of a mega raffle with $10,000 in prizes, and a family fun zone. Trade stalls and food vendors will be onsite, while live music and the licensed bar will keep the fun going into the evening.
