City of Moreton Bay’s Make Music Month is back with a program of free events, live performances, jam sessions, workshops and interactive activities across the region’s galleries, museums and libraries.

Singer-songwriter Phoebe Purtill is among the featured performers, with the artist set to perform original music during an intimate live session at Burpengary Library on Tuesday, 2 June, from 11am to 12pm.

“This is my first year being part of Make Music Month and I’m looking forward to experiencing the space at the Burpengary Library and engaging with the local community,” Phoebe said.

“I’ve previously performed at Live N Local Festival at the Dayboro Drop in 2021, an initiative that was also sponsored by the Moreton Bay Council and gave me live performing experience with all original songs.”

Currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music, Phoebe also performs with an all-girl folk trio and an eight-piece pop band. She said Moreton Bay had a lot to offer local artists and musicians.

“Moreton Bay is an exciting region for the arts, because the Council is very supportive and accessible for all sorts of projects, and they’re very flexible with ideas that artists put forward,” she said.

As part of Make Music Month, Phoebe was also invited to participate in a songwriting workshop, facilitated by I Heart Songwriting Club.

“I previously won a songwriting award at ASME’s Young Composer Competition in 2024 for my song Burn Out, and the feedback I got from I Heart Songwriting Club was very detailed and useful, so I look forward to learning more from their perspective,” she said.

Celebrating Local Talent Across Moreton Bay

Caboolture-based country pop musician Jade Clark will also feature in this year’s program, performing at Caboolture Regional Art Gallery as part of the Like Yesterday Exhibition.

A finalist in the Urban Qld Stardust Talent Quest at the 2025 Urban Country Music Festival, Jade has been performing since the age of 16 and said she was really looking forward to being part of this year’s Make Music Month.

“As a local artist, I truly appreciate the support and encouragement the City of Moreton Bay gives to the arts community through events like this,” she said. “It’s always such a special experience to be invited to perform.

“The Like Yesterday exhibition sounds incredible, and performing within that space will be something really memorable. In keeping with the exhibition’s theme, I’ll be performing a mix of original songs and well-loved covers to help create a nostalgic atmosphere and bring back seaside memories of years gone by.”

These events are free, but bookings are required.
