Christmas will look a little brighter for 2,105 (and climbing!) local children who may not normally see much in the way of presents.

The Bright Bags Christmas Appeal was launched in August when a call went out to the community to sponsor a bag/child.

Bright Bags founder Kerri Raedel said what started as a small act of kindness had grown into something truly special.

“Each year, we see more people wanting to get involved, whether it’s donating items, packing bags, or helping with deliveries,” Kerri said. “We are so grateful for every person out there who helps make a difference in the lives of the kids the bags go to.”

Community Impact and How to Help

With 335 people, 13 businesses and 14 community groups buying Christmas presents, creating handmade tote bags, making handmade gift tags and filling each bag with love, these simple items can make a world of difference to someone facing hardship.

“We have some incredible people in the community,” Kerri said. “Everyone has come together to show these children they haven’t been forgotten and that we can make Christmas a little brighter for those who need it most. Every donation, every act of kindness, helps share the true spirit of the season, compassion and connection.”
