Do you fancy yourself a bit of a singer? Do you want to get more involved in the community? Then joining the Caboolture Community Choir might be the right fit for you.
The Caboolture Community Choir has been filling local halls with harmony since it first started back in 1995. Over the last 30 years, the choir has built a reputation for friendship, joy, and community spirit, with two founding members – Dawn Gillespie and June Willoughby – still singing with the group today.
“We started the choir as we loved singing, but we never dreamed that 30 years later it would still be going strong or that we’d have done all the performances we have over the last few decades,” said Dawn.
This year marks a milestone for the choir, as members, supporters, and past singers gathered at Caboolture Memorial Hall in September to celebrate the choir’s 30th anniversary.
Upcoming Performances and How to Join
The Caboolture Community Choir is now looking ahead to its next chapter. And with Christmas around the corner, several local performances are planned, aiming to continue a long tradition of bringing music to aged care residents and community events.
The choir will perform at Sunnymeade Park Aged Care in Caboolture on Thursday, 4 December, the Strathpine Age Care Christmas Carols on Thursday, 4 December, Arcare Age Care Facility in Caboolture on Tuesday, 9 December, and at Woodford Manor on Friday, 19 December.
“Our choir has grown over the years; it’s great to see so much local talent,” June said. “We are hoping it keeps going strong for many more years to come.”
If you are keen to join the Caboolture Community Choir, membership is open to anyone over 18 who enjoys singing. No auditions are held, and no prior experience is required either.
While the group said it is particularly keen to welcome more men, all voices are valued. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings at St Laurence’s Church Hall, from February through November, rehearsal times are from 6:45pm to 9pm.
