Resilience, courage and a whole lot of heart have led Candice Kiss to where she is today.
For hospitality entrepreneur Candice, time stopped for a moment as her name was called out as the Business Woman of the Year at the 2025 Moreton Bay Business and Innovation Awards.
With three thriving cafes (Gather and Feast, Annie Lane and Ruby Tuesday Cafe) operating within the City of Moreton Bay, Candice described the win as “one of the most meaningful moments” of her life.
“It was exceptionally emotional because I was standing in a room filled with people I have looked up to, people who have inspired me and people who have helped me grow,” she said. “This is not like any other award. It is deeply meaningful and represents a real chance to make change and help other small businesses. I am still crying thinking about it; my heart is so full.
“This award represents not just personal success but a collective achievement. It belongs to every small business owner who keeps showing up, even when things are tough. It is a celebration of the community we have built here in Moreton Bay, one built on connection, collaboration and resilience.”
Inspiring Success Through Community and Hospitality
As a woman in business, Candice hopes her journey inspires others to step forward with confidence and compassion.
“The hospitality industry can be challenging, but I’ve always believed women have a powerful place in it,” she said. “If my journey gives other women the courage to take that next step, back themselves or keep going on the days they feel like giving up, then that is the true reward.”
While awards bring motivation, Candice said her drive comes from people.
“I am inspired by the people I work with every day, watching them grow, find confidence and reach their potential,” she said. “What keeps me going is knowing that small businesses have the power to make an impact far beyond their own walls. Collaboration, connection, and community are what fuel me. When we work together, we all rise together.”
Candice thanked City of Moreton Bay and Tourism and Events Moreton Bay for supporting small business.
“This award is a celebration of what happens when we collaborate instead of compete,” she said. “Small business is the backbone of this country and I’m so proud to be part of an extraordinary, passionate and hard-working community here in Moreton Bay.”
City of Moreton Bay Division 2 Councillor Mark Booth said he couldn’t speak more highly of Candice and her achievements.
“Candice’s story is one that really embodies what makes Moreton Bay special, hardworking locals turning passion into purpose,” Cr Booth said. “Her drive, innovation, and commitment to empowering other women in business make her a deserving winner of Business Woman of the Year.
“Her success is an inspiration to the next generation of businesswomen coming through and a reminder that our city is fast becoming a hub for innovation and opportunity.”
